Baldwin began prospecting in the Bremner District in the early 1930s, and from 1936 to 1940, was president of the Yellow Band Mining Company. He acquired the Bremner Gold Mining Company holdings in 1939.Lucky , Grand Prize, Sheriff, and Yellow Band Mines are examples of remote underground mining operations.

Baldwin has been lucky with the horses and Baldwin Park was named after him, but his 40-stamp mill on Gold Mountain produced mostly only low grade ore that proved to cost more to extract gold from than it was worth. Other operators took turns with Gold Mountain Mine right up till the 1940's when it finally closed for good.
