Jun 1, 2021The blocks comprised of different percentages of laterite soil (76%, 81%, 85% and 87%), quarry dust (9% and 10% by weight of the soil) and ordinary Portland cement (3%, 5%, 10% and 15% by weight of the soil. The results showed that cement content of 10% and 9% quarry dust was suitable for the block at any curing period above 7 days.

Quarry Rock Dust: Quarry dust is fine rock particles. When boulders are broken into small pieces quarry dust is formed. It is grey in colour and it is like fine aggregate. The physical and chemical properties of quarry rock dust and the fine aggregate are listed in Table 1 and Table 2 respectively. Tab.1 Property of quarry dust and river sand

Geopolymer mortar compressed blocks were prepared using fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag, silica fume and metakaolin as binders and sand/quarry dust/pond ash as fine aggregate. Alkaline solution was used to activate the source materials for synthesizing the geopolymer mortar. Fresh mortar was used to obtain the compressed blocks. The strength development with reference to ...

It had hardly affected the mix with 30% replacement which adds to the possibility of replacing M Sand with 30% quarry dust powder. Percentage variation of strength after acid test was 57.9 for 0% quarry dust powder replacement, 47.3 for 30% replacement and 70 for 60% replacement which shows that 30% replacement seems to be optimum.
